Physical Education, a Time Where Kids Could be Kids
In 2006, only 3.8% of elementary kids, 79% of middle schools, and 2.1% of high schools offered students daily physical education. Physical education is a great way to stay healthy, especially for kids who don’t exercise on a daily basis. If we cut P.E, there will be more time for math and reading, which are the only two subjects that are on the S.A.Ts. But kids need to take a break from school work, participating in physical education is a great way to free your mind.
A survey at middle shows 75% of kids out of 12 like P.E. Since eating and staying healthy is a big problem, phys ed is a great way to help keep kids in shape. If kids or students don’t gets the appropriate amount of time exercising outside of school the why should we cut gym (P.E.) if it helps kids get in shape. If students feel that gym is a fun, great way to stay fit, P.E. should not be cut. After all, it’s our child feelings that really count right?
Opponents say kids that aren’t as athletic get bullied and embarrassed. This is wrong because teachers watch out for bullying. Teachers do not permit any bullying at all; this action is carefully watched for protection of students. Phys. Ed teachers will not do any activities that students can’t do. No kid should feel embarrassed because each student is encouraged to try their best and not care what other kids thinks. Each student will always have a friend with them so they don’t be lonely. According to a survey in a middle school, 75% out of 12 kids like gym (P.E.). That means a lot more people like gym. It means that they enjoy, and are not embarrassed in this physical activity.

P.E. is a great way to free your mind. Kids can’t go through 6 ~ 7 hours of school work such as English, math, history, and science. They need to take a break, and getting exercise with friends is a great way to let your mind go free. Kids enjoy getting a chance to relieve their stress and take a break from other classes. Opponents say differently. They say that if we cut P.E. there will be more time for more math and English. Math and English are the two subjects that are on the S.A.Ts. The S.A.Ts is the final tests that students take in 12th grade. These tests decide what college you are worthy of going to. Opponents say that with P.E. cut, and more time in school, they should have extra time for math and English so that there is a better chance for you to get into a good college. And with higher knowledge there is a bigger and brighter future. This is wrong because a national study in 2007, 62% of elementary schools and 20 percent of middle schools have significantly increased the instructional time they allocate to English and math. Yes it sounds great, but it isn’t. Research shows that physical education does not harm academic performance. It actually (P.E.) resulted in improvements in academic performance.
Physical Education is a great way to stay fit and a great way to help free the mind. It is also a fun activity that everybody can enjoy and will not feel embarrassed or end up being bullied. So the next time you even think about cutting P.E, think again and ask, why?

Christmas... a time for presents, or a time for joy?!?!?

Every year, after Thanksgiving, it's said that Santa will come around with a bundle of presents for the good boys and girls. Every year, millions of children get gifts. Now getting presents isn't a crime. Everybody should get to experience the joy of getting what you want. But have you ever wondered that Christmas is about getting, not giving?

Christmas is a favorite holiday to lots of children of all different sizes. Yes, it is a time to enjoy with your family, but is it all about the gifts now. This holiday is a religious holiday. A time where you celebrate the day Jesus was born. And yet, every year people get tons of presents. Have you ever wondered about the needy, which don't even get enough food to survive?  Christmas is a time to give not to get!!! To spend time with your family, and to celebrate the birth of Jesus. My friends mom said that kids these days don't realize the true meaning of Christmas. It's not to get, and then want more, it's a time where families spend time with each other.

The joy of getting presents is much more then you think. When you wake up on Christmas Eve, looking at those presents under that beautiful Christmas tree, don't you feel like a rainbow fell right under you? Yes, although Christmas is about religious topics and family, it's always so nice to get what you want once a year. It's always so nice to see those presents that you've wanted and waited for all this time under the Christmas tree. Christmas is a time where little boys and girls jump for joy because Santa Clause is coming to town. To see your family member or friend open your gift and see that smile on their face, doesn't that make you glow. Getting and giving presents is not a crime, but a thing that you could enjoy.

DEAR SANTA

Every year at this time of year, you get millions of letters. Some more demanding, other being more pleasing. For your delight, I shall make this letter more pleasing. I know that you are busy with the elf's, but this Christmas I would like a laptop. I wish for my own laptop because now, since I am in sixth grade, we have a lot of typing pieces to do. This year my brother is in his last year of Edison High. Well, you know teachers these days, you have to type every piece you write. Since I need the computer, and he needs it to, and guess who always go first, my brother does. I wish for my own personal, private computer. Wish you the best of luck, and a jolly Christmas

Thanksgiving Day Parard

One of my favorite holidays is Thanks Giving. Each year families celebrate it by doing all types of fun stuff. How does the fun of Thanks Giving begin??? Some people like to go the the Macy's parade in New York. It all started in 1924 when Macy first had the parade. Thousaunds of people would come and watch the hude balloons go by. Or even i heard the this year Victoria Justic will be singing there too!!! Some other traditions is visiting famalies, and gathering around a turkey. With some stuffing and mashed potatoes with gravy mmmmmmmm!!! Alot of families also pray and gives thanks to all that their grateful for. My favorite part for Thankgiving is the school break!!!

Gattitude

Some of the things I am grateful for is having opposable thumbs. With out these fingers we call thumbs, we couldn’t be doing the simple things we could do today. For example, we couldn’t be able to hold things like cups. We couldn’t be able to write. (Although some people would actually like that.) We couldn’t be able to type correctly either, and I’m very sure that some people would not like that. Don’t even get me into that story.

Halloween Hauntings

Halloween is my favorite holiday. Its the time where you get candy, where your costume, and do nothing in school. Halloween is also a time when you get scared by all the scary stories. When i go trick - or - treating with my friends, i feel like I'm in Halloween Town. All the kids dressed up as scary monsters, or beutifull faries prancing around. I have a awesome neighbor that puts a haunted house up every year and all of my friends come and we all gget trick or treating around the block. This year my new record is to fill up my whole pillow case. Last year, alot of people just left candy at there door step, so just took all of it. The biggest problem of all is getting a costume. Oh boy, life lesson..... get one way before halloween. If you don't follow that idea, i'd like to see that smile oin your face the day of halloween

Staire Things in my Life

THE EIGHTH GRADERS. Oh boy! COME ON!! GO faster!!! Then we say what ever mom! The first day you go to middle school and your like yay!!! Then you get on the bus, this is not what i thought it would be. Its like a jungle. When you were in elementry school, you ruled the school in fifth grade. Sorry to break it to you honey, the eighth graders rule all the students in the school, the seventh graders rue you and the only thing you rule is the toilet.

Patriotism Always Matters

                       Patriotism Always Matters

I have a question for you. Does patriotism still matter? Of course it does! Patriotism is a time where you honor the soldiers and veterans that fight for our country. When the red and white stripes on the American Flag, or the white stars that symbolizes each and every one of our states can be honored in so many different ways.  Have you ever taken the time to just think, that so many soldiers have died just for our country? These brave soldiers are more than just people, they’re heroes.
You should be grateful that these people are risking their lives for you. I’m grateful that we Americans get freedom of speech. I’m grateful that we are safe and secure. When you say the pledge of allegiance do you mean it? “One nation under god.” Are we really one nation? Oh yes we are! I’m proud to be an American. When American soldiers are on that battlefield, I hope that do their 100% best. They have 50% courage, 50% pride, and 100% strength.
We have the freedom. Why not use it? Take advantage of it! When we go to school, we should try our best in everything we do. If we try our hardest, there is no doubt that we won’t succeed. Everyone is encouraged to score high.  I know my parents encourage me to try my hardest and do well.   I also know that us Americans are not going to give up. I know that these soldiers out there right now are not giving up. They have put in a lot of effort and hard work in to their lives. When they walk on that battle field, they don’t just give up because it’s too hot outside. They push there selves and that is what we should do to.
Every time it’s Veterans Day, you should think about how hard these soldiers work. Pride, courage, bravery, and strength. Those four things are not just given to you. You have to earn them. So, the next time you pass by the American Flag, or a soldier, think, does patriotism still matter?

My Point of View

In Ralph Fletchers story, he wrote about his childhood. He gave little stories about his childhood. A childhood memory.

In "First pen" Ralph Fletcher tell about a pen that he loved. It was a childhood memorie that was never forgotten. A particular sentence that stuck out was " What words are hidden - unborn, unwritten - in all that used ink." ( Fletcher , 2005, page 44) That sentence really caught my eye. It leaves you with a feeling you can not put into words. It leaves you with....... That mysterious feeling in you.

A story that leaves you witha very emotional feeling is  "Bobby." Bobby is a short story about a little boy who dies when he is in high school. This sentence leaves you with a said feeling that if the event happened to you, you would deffinitly feel the same way. "Not a day goes by that i don't miss him." (Fletcher, 2005, page 60)

The last sentence that i am going to talk about is also a emotional feeling. A feeling that leaves you sad feeling, but happy feeling too. " my father and i had drifted away from each other." (Fletcher, 2005, page 84)  This sentence is a very good ending sentence. It ties into the whole story of "Last Kiss."

My Favorite Doll

When i was 5 years old, i got the best gift EVER!!!! It was a little baby doll that looked just like me. Well, now its head is half open and there's tatoo's all over it but its ok. Well, back to the topic, i loved that doll. My neighbor and i used to pretend it was our own little baby and we used to carry it around in a carriage and give it baths, like you would do to a real baby  . The baby had to have a diaper too, because right after you give to baby water, it comes right back out! I still have that baby( a baby with no name tehe ) and i hope to have it for the rest of my life. I would pass it down to my child, and your child would pass it down to his/her child but, i dont think my child would want a baby that look like a Halloween ornament.

Annoying Parents

Have you ever had that felling where you just want to yell at your parents so bad but know you can't. Well, I can tell you one thing, IT IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!! No matter how much you want to. Here's a little trick. Type or write a letter about how much you just want to show them how they treat you. It might not work. Or  your parents are just SUPER nosy, then you might have a problem. I'm preety sure there has been a time where you want to scream to your mom because she yells at you when your little brother or sister did it. When you want to scream at your dad because he yells at you because he says that t.v makes your brain melt, wven though he watches t.v all the time. If something like that never happen to you, then your NOT HUMAN.( just joking ):p

Small Stinky Lockers!!!

Almost every rocket has a big locker. Yea, almost  every rocket. The students in Mrs.Patalanos class get the small, stinky lockers. When i went to the orientation, the used to be sixth grade rockets told me that you'll be fine with the small lockers. Sure, their not as big as the other lockers but, we can work something out, right? Wrong, the people that have the small lockers always have no room to put all of their books. People accidently switch locks with other peole because no one wants to wait and be patient. Last but not least, we have the big lockers in front of us so its like their mocking us with their size. To future sixth graders that read this, pray that you don't get the small lockers!!!
